Coretta Scott King (1927-2006)
- Wife of Martin Luther King.
- Because of her, the legacy of Martin Luther King lives on this day.
- With her hardwork and determination, she founded the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Change.
- Established Martin Luther King’s birthday as a national holiday (US only).
- She was the pillar of her family, supporting her husband while raising four children during what were chaotic times. For those who are mothers know that raising children, particularly black children then and even in today’s society, is not an easy task. She was truly phenominal.
It is important that we understand that the dream equality for all people was not just Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King’s dream but a dream shared by him and Coretta Scott King. It was through her vision as well that today we are closer to that dream.
Wheew what a great woman she was… I just remember the celebration of IWD 2006 two weeks ago .
