BaLaYaN,BaTaNgAs-LeChOn PaRaDe 2007
Parada ng Lechon - a yearly festival falls on 24th of June (Feast of Saint John the Baptist) observed by the locals of Balayan, Batangas. My classmate W, who’s from Balayan always invite us during our college days but it was my second time only to witnessed the festival.
A lady lechon dressed in gown.
Lechon - a whole piglet or pig cooked on a spit over charcoal.
My shots were limited due to the water sprays coming from every corner. I covered my camera with two plastic bags to avoid getting wet, specially when we passed by near the Fire Station Department who used bigger hoses.

Hi! I loved the photo of that leachon dressed up to the nines. hahaha! It’s a pity that it has to be eaten.
I think they throw water because it’s feast of John the baptist who is known to baptize people in water.

Hi! Although I never saw this kind of parade before, I am happy to see scenes from Balayan, Batangas. When I was in college I spent and attended many IVCF (Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship) conferences in a camp site called OMF Balayan Bay Camp. The camp site was built along Balayan Bay. It’s a beautiful camp site that I will ever forget.
